Ha Esperanca

It started with a vision: to have a boat that can be used to provide humanitarian ministry to the hundreds of villages and communities that exist along the Amazon and Tapajos Rivers. After praying for four years, this vision came to pass in 2016 as God provided the finances and the boat itself, which we called the HA ESPERANCA - the THERE’S HOPE boat.

This boat ministry is based out of Santarem and led by Marcos and Hanna Cordeiro, our ministry partners in this region of Brazil. Together they lead 70 volunteers, making up three teams that go out on CONVOY OF HOPE trips; the teams go out about six times a year to select villages along the Amazon River.

The CONVOY OF HOPE provides medical and dental care, eye exams and eyeglasses, hygiene kits, water purification kits, food bags, haircuts, and physical therapy. During a visit, there is also children’s ministry, home visits, and evangelism. Since 2019, nearly 5,000 people have been helped and encouraged through this vital ministry, and all that are reached have the opportunity to hear the “good news” of Jesus Christ.

Each Convoy of Hope trip costs $1,600, which covers the food bags, medical and dental supplies, Bibles, discipleships materials, bottles of water and food for the teams, and fuel and other operation costs for the boat.

You can be a Convoy of Hope partner today by praying for this vital ministry and giving your financial support for the operation of the boat, which is ministering to and reaching people for Jesus Christ.

Today, HA ESPERANCA is providing “hope” to all to whom it travels. Thank you for supporting the operation of this ministry.

The Ice Boat

The ICE BOAT travels along the Amazon River at least twice a month giving out free bags of ice to men and women fishing on the Amazon River. Fishing is the main livelihood for so many people that live along the river, and the ice they receive helps ensure that their catch stays as fresh as possible.

The speed and cabin space available on the Ice Boat also allows it to serve as an ambulance when needed to get someone with a medical need living along the Amazon River to the hospital in the city as quickly as possible!

The cost of operating the ICE BOAT is $350 a month. This covers the cost of fuel and maintenance of the boat, bags for the ice, maintenance for the ice machines, discipleship materials, and bonus items for the fishers which includes snacks, bottles of water, sunscreen, and sunglasses. Give today towards a month of operation for the Ice Boat!
